Ok, I'm heading back to Alaska for a 2nd black bear and taking my brother-in-law John and my good friend Brian from Hawaii. The three of us started off by chartering a float plane to drop us off on the Kenai Peninsula. We packed all our gear, food and hunting supplies and got dropped off on Sunday as it started to rain on us. We got our camp set up in a light drizzle and fixed our first meal of the trip as we glassed the surrounding mountains and shoreline for bears. Monday morning approx 4:00am officially starts our hunt as you can not hunt the same day you fly. As it continues to rain we explore and look for black bears, this year I bring along inflatable rafts so that we can traverse the end of the bay and access an area that contained several large black bears the year before. to be continued........
Well it rained almost continuously the entire trip until
we decided to get picked up early on Thursday and join Walter on his boat and
hunt the coastline of the Kenai Peninsula as he delivered his boat from Homer to
the new owner in Seward.
